Get to Know James A. Moreau Jr., DDS
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Funny enough, becoming a dentist (a profession that he genuinely loves today) was the LAST thing Dr. Moreau wanted to do for his job initially. In his younger years, however, he experienced several facial injuries that involved his teeth and jaws, which gave him a newfound appreciation for what dentists could do to help those in need. His father also gave him a strong push in the direction of oral healthcare because he thought Dr. Moreau was too independent for the military and also too strong-willed to be someone’s employee.
Today, Dr. Moreau is proud to be the independent leader of his dental office while still having a soft heart for the people in his care. He also enjoys being a seasoned mentor to those who seek his expertise.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Moreau and his wife Julie have been married since 1983 and have brought four interesting children into the world – two daughters followed by twin sons. Their active family has always enjoyed traveling, church, and community activities together, with some sports and a lot of camping sprinkled into the mix. They’ve camped, flown airplanes, canoed, kayaked, hiked, zip lined, rode horseback, and biked in various locations throughout the country! Although he’s taking a break from flying, Dr. Moreau is a founding member of both the Big Easy Wing and the Bayou Escadrille Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) and supports the restoration and maintenance of WWII aircraft. Last and certainly not least, he is a Board Member of Louisiana Missions of Mercy and has led mission trips to Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Moreau used to joke that his hobbies are “weed whacking and self-pity.” But these days, he does as much travel as time allows and spends plenty of time hanging out on his pontoon boat, affectionately called “The Weedwhacker”.
