Monitoring Changes in Your Oral Health, Digital Imaging of Your Teeth, Gums and Bite

Our routine preventive care and periodontal maintenance goes beyond what you may expect from the average dental and hygiene team. With the use of our iTero Scanners, we are able to take 6,000 images per second to build a digital composite of your entire mouth, including your bite. The entire process only take a few minutes. Your hygienist will typically perform this scan once a year during a bi-annual cleaning visit. It may be suggested by your dentist to take an updated scan sooner if there is a concern that needs to be monitored more frequently.

Best of all, these imaging scans are a completely complimentary part of the routine care you’ll experience at MoreSMILES Dental Spa.

The Benefits of Digital Wellness Scans with iTero Scanner

Digital wellness scans, through intraoral imaging and AI technology, provide a multitude of information for your dentist and hygienist that help them in improving and maintaining your oral health. In less than 6 minutes, these digital scans show your dental team all of the information they need.
  • Enlargement and Rotation – With the ability to zoom and rotate intraoral images, your dentist can more quickly and easily detect wear and breakage of teeth, damaged fillings and crowns, buildup and stain on teeth, infection and misalignment before it develops into a worse or more painful condition.
  • Tracking Changes – Your first wellness scan serves as a baseline so your dentist and hygienist can track and identify signs of improvement or worsening of conditions, as well as changes taking place that may otherwise be undetectable. This includes the subtle shifting of teeth, new signs of tooth wear that can indicate other issues arising, worsening gum recession, and changes in the way your teeth fit together.
  • Treatment Prediction with Results Simulator – If you’re considering orthodontic treatment, iTero Scanner uses your digital wellness scan to predict the movement of your teeth to render a before and after image. Your dentist can then show you how orthodontic treatment can improve the look of your smile, the feel of your bite, and functionality, as well as predict the length of treatment, helping you to make a more informed decision. When you are ready for orthodontic treatment, your scans act as a digital impression and are instantly sent to Align for the fabrication of your Invisalign clear aligners.
  • Patient Education and Support – iTero Scanner features a large screen visible to the patient so that you can see what your dentist and hygienist see as they scan, enlarge, rotate and enhance the images. We believe that patient education is the most important part of health care. Being able to see and understand what we’re looking at helps you to ask questions and make informed decisions about your health.
  • No-Mess Impressions – Your digital wellness scans can also be used as impressions for your restorative and orthodontic treatment. This means no more messy, uncomfortable putty! The digital impressions are automatically sent through Bluetooth Technology to our in-office lab for restorative treatment and electronically sent directly to Align for the fabrication of Invisalign aligners.
  • Occlusalgram – iTero Scanner technology uses the digital scan to render and a diagram of your bite to illustrate how your teeth fit together and indicate areas where your teeth are misaligned or hitting harder than they should. This malocclusion could lead to tooth damage, shifting and jaw pain, or TMJ disorder. The technology assists in early detection so the issues can be addressed before they cause you pain or require more serious treatment.
